A Policy Draft, SAAM 5509, “State Employees Serving as Board Members,” Has Been Posted
A new policy draft, SAAM 5509, State Employees Serving as Board Members, has been posted. This policy will have a significant effect on State employees who also serve as members of boards and upon the boards which they serve.
Among other provisions, SAAM 5509, State Employees Serving as Board Members, will outline those circumstances under which such employees may be paid for their board services and those under which they may not.
Unlike most drafts, this section will be posted with an effective date, July 1, 2016, which it will carry when published as policy.
It is important that all State employees and State boards affected by this policy familiarize themselves with its content.
