Several agencies have reported the discovery of non-authorized purchasing cards such as Lowe’s Pro Supply purchasing cards at various agency locations.  The cards have been issued without agency management knowledge or permission. Per SAAM 4535, the state’s purchasing card (US Bank) is the only allowable purchasing card.  No other purchasing cards are authorized or shall be used. 

Agencies should make sure that all employees are aware that no other purchasing cards are allowed. If any cards are found, the cards should be canceled immediately. The agency should also try to find out who requested the cards or what action caused the cards to be established so that corrective action can be taken, and confirm that all unauthorized cards have been canceled and destroyed. Any unauthorized open accounts should be closed immediately.
